Biography
Wilson Engelmann holds a law degree from the University of Vale do Rio dos Sinos (1988), a master’s degree in Public Law from the same institution (2000), and a Ph.D. in Public Law from the University of Vale do Rio dos Sinos (2005). He conducted post-doctoral studies in Public Law – Human Rights at the Center for Security Studies at the Law School of the University of Santiago de Compostela, Spain (2018).
Currently, he is a professor and researcher in the Professional Master’s in Business and Corporate Law and in the Postgraduate Program in Law – Master’s and Ph.D., both at UNISINOS. He is a research productivity grantee from CNPq and a collaborating researcher at the Latin American Nanotechnology & Society Network. Additionally, he serves as an associate researcher at the Portucalense Institute for Legal Research, the Center for Research and Development on Law and Society, and CEAD – Francisco Suárez Center for Advanced Studies in Law at the Lusophone University of Lisbon, all in Portugal. He is a member of the Advisory Committee of the Foundation for Research Support of the State of Rio Grande do Sul and an associate professor at the University of Vale do Rio dos Sinos.
Engelmann’s expertise lies in Law, focusing on General Legal Theory, with a primary emphasis on nanotechnologies, artificial intelligence, human rights, new rights, the dialogue between legal sources, risk management of new technologies, regulation, and regulated self-regulation.
